Our approach to curriculum

Our curriculum is created with hands-on play at the forefront, while rooted in the fundamentals of social interaction, behavioral responsibility, and emotional expression.  Our teachers help foster this type of approach by creating real-life situations where students can learn by doing. From cooking to dining, from building block structures to artistic expression, the children use their imagination and tactile skills to engage their minds in creative experiences. This also allows the teachers to connect with the students as they work together on proper social, behavioral, and emotional interactions with others. The students learn about the nuances of sharing, patience, teamwork, pride, and setbacks. More importantly, they learn not to give up when something does not work the first time.

Reading Readiness

We read stories to the children that are interesting, fun, and relevant to the subjects which they will be learning about. Through this interaction, children are encouraged to express their opinions and thoughts about the stories. Children also learn about letters, sounds, and how to read from left to right.

Gross and Fine Motor Skills

By working on puzzles, practicing finger plays, and writing their names, the children develop important motor skills, which helps them gain confidence about their abilities. We encourage them to run, jump and climb outside to use their large muscles and develop their sense of balance.

Social Skills

The children are provided with a secure and safe environment, giving them opportunities to practice their social skills. We encourage them to play with blocks and games, and play pretend with other children, including our teachers. Through this, the children learn to solve problems constructively, be a part of our community, and how to get along with others.

Language Development

Each child is encouraged to use language through play, peer-relations, and teacher-child interactions. This helps build vocabulary, allowing them to articulate their thoughts and feelings, as well as to problem-solve. They are encouraged to make up stories, sing songs, play listening games, and even to role play.

Emotional Development

To help the children develop a positive self image, we provide an atmosphere where they can feel comfortable as they develop a sense of trust and love in people and places. Our school is a safe place where the children can find good friends and helpful teachers, and where they can feel good about themselves through dancing, creating art, or helping others.

What is it and how do we use it in our classes>?

In our dynamic early childhood program, the excitement of STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Math) extends from our 2's class to our 4's, creating a continuous journey of wonder and discovery. As young explorers, children build towering block structures, craft colorful masterpieces, and engage in learning games encompassing Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. From experimenting with science and expressing themselves through dance to incorporating Sign Language and Spanish, each day is an adventure in laughter and learning. Our dedicated teachers guide this exploration with warmth and enthusiasm, fostering curiosity and creativity. Through science and art projects, children observe, predict, and develop a sense of self in the world around them. With STREAM, including Religion, learning becomes an exhilarating journey, where the joy of discovery is as boundless as the imagination itself!

S is for Science:

Our young learners engage in simple experiments and hands-on activities, introducing foundational concepts to foster curiosity and discovery. These activities include observing everyday items, exploring the basics of buoyancy, and delving into the properties of magnets. Guided by our teachers, these experiences aim to lay the groundwork for scientific understanding, providing a structured introduction to inquiry-based learning.

T is for Technology:

In our early childhood program, we introduce age-appropriate exploration with instruments as part of our approach to technology. Even our youngest learners engage with simple tools, such as measuring cups and toy hammers. These hands-on instruments are integrated into activities to develop basic technical skills, providing an early introduction to the world of technology. Guided by our teachers, these activities focus on structured learning experiences aimed at building a foundation for future technical understanding.

R is for Religion:

In our early childhood program, Religious Exploration takes a gentle Christian approach, introducing little ones to age-appropriate stories, values, and traditions from the Christian faith. Through storytelling and simple activities, children engage with themes of kindness, love, and sharing, fostering an early understanding of Christian cultural values and ethics. Guided by our dedicated teachers, these experiences aim to instill respect for Christian beliefs, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for our young learners.

E is for Engineering:

In our early childhood program, early engineering takes center stage, inviting young minds to engage in creative play that sparks problem-solving and critical thinking. Picture little builders immersed in constructing with blocks, their faces lighting up with each newly created structure. They might experiment with cause and effect, discovering how altering the foundation impacts the stability of their creations. Whether stacking blocks or connecting building materials, these hands-on activities become the building blocks for basic engineering principles. Guided by our teachers, these playful experiences pave the way for a foundational understanding of engineering, nurturing a curiosity that lays the groundwork for future problem-solving skills.

A is for Art:

In our early childhood program, arts and crafts become a lively adventure for little artists, splashing colors and molding shapes with joy. Imagine kids crafting vibrant artworks, using various materials to bring their wild imaginations to life. These creative activities not only spark imagination but also fine-tune those little hands for crafting magic. With our teachers as playful guides, these artistic adventures blend seamlessly with reading sessions, turning stories into visual wonders. Picture the delight as children create their imaginative interpretations of the tales they read, fostering a love for reading and unleashing their creativity. As they dive into these activities, kids build a fun foundation for future artistic and literary escapades, all in a cheerful and expressive manner.

M is for Math:

In our early childhood program, math takes on a playful twist as little learners engage in activities like counting, sorting, and exploring shapes. Picture children calmly organizing colorful objects or quietly exploring the characteristics of various shapes. These early math experiences are designed to lay the foundation for numerical understanding and problem-solving in an interactive and approachable manner. With guidance from our teachers, these activities make math exploration a structured yet enjoyable part of their learning journey, setting the stage for future mathematical skills development.
